Wayne Taylor Racing and Andretti Autosport Join Forces for 2023 IMSA Season

Today it was announced that Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) and Andretti Autosport have joined forces for the 2023 IMSA season.

The racing world was abuzz with excitement this week when it was announced that the legendary teams of Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) and Andretti Autosport have joined forces for the 2023 IMSA season. This new partnership is sure to bring an unprecedented level of innovation and talent to the track, not just from WTR and Andretti Autosport, but also from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). 

This partnership, for WTR means a chance to step up their game. With access to Andretti Autosports’ resources and technology, they will be able to take their cars to a higher level of performance. Team owner Wayne Taylor had this to say about the partnership: “We are looking forward to elevating our program in terms of competitiveness across all levels within IMSA. We have been working hard over the past few years on evolving our program into something that can compete at a championship level, and we believe this partnership will help us achieve that goal.\” 

At the same time Andretti Autosport is equally as excited about this new opportunity. Michael Andretti said “This is an incredible opportunity for both organizations to grow in ways that we wouldn’t be able to do separately. By combining our knowledge, experience and resources, we’ll be able to create something special that can challenge for championships in multiple series. We’re looking forward to starting this collaboration together with WTR and taking on some of the toughest competition in racing.\”

Wayne Taylor Racing + Andretti Autosport 

This new partnership between WTR and Andretti Autosport could have a huge impact on IMSA as well. With a combined 50+ years of experience in various classes of professional racing, these two teams bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will undoubtedly improve the quality of competition within the series. As reigning champions in both prototype class endurance racing (WTR) and  Andretti who has teams in IndyCar, Formula E, Extreme E, and Australian SuperCar, these teams could prove especially formidable when paired up against other competitors within IMSA\’s sportscar racing classes.  

The announcement of this historic partnership between Wayne Taylor Racing and Andretti Autosport has sent waves through the motorsports community, leading many people to speculate on what it might mean for both teams as well as IMSA in general. However one thing is certain; with such an impressive combination of talent between them, these two legendary teams are sure to shake things up when they hit the track together in 2023!

The IMSA season kicks-off with the Roar Before the 24 Jan 20 – 22 and the official start with the Rolex 24 Jan 26-29. 

ANDRETI AUTOSPORT F1 UPDATE: 
This comes with big news—a sponsorship deal and an injection of cash coming from Guggenheim Partners estimated at around $200 million. This new injection will no doubt help Andretti Autosport carve out a spot in F1’s unique market, and certainly make them a force to be reckoned with if F1 and their teams want him there. It\’s definitely big news for F1 fans, who hope to see exciting races and some new contenders to challenge the status quo. Can\’t wait – let the games begin!
